Teaching & Activities
“Support children through education, sports, and creativity.”
Academic encouragement, sports, and music sit at the heart of NNSC’s enrichment philosophy. Volunteers in this track support children across three areas: academic support, sports, and creative or musical activities. Children access more resources and opportunities, and get a window into your world: your culture, your background, your way of being. Many of our most meaningful volunteer relationships have come from this track.
Focus areas:
Academic support
- One-on-one and small group tutoring in English, mathematics, or science
- Reading sessions, book club facilitation, and library engagement
- Creative writing and storytelling activities
Sports
- Structured sports sessions: football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, badminton, or your sport of choice
- Teamwork and leadership activities through sport
- Organizing small tournaments or inter-home events where possible
Music & arts
- Music sessions: instruments, singing, rhythm, or music appreciation
- Art, craft, or creative projects that let children express themselves
- Cultural exchange through your own creative traditions
Your role:
- Plan and run sessions across your focus area(s) in collaboration with NNSC staff
- Build relationships with individual children and track their progress
